Medya ve nihilizm : Türk medyası örneği

Abstract

Nihilism, identical to the word nothingness, is used by Nietzsche in the sense thatsupreme values lose their value. While Nietzsche is the most prominent figure in nihilism, postmodern thinker Baudrillard also stands out for his conceptualization of transparentnihilism. Nihilism is, in essence, put forward as a rebellion against modernity, and soNietzsche is considered the name that prioritizes postmodernism; postmodernity is alsoseen as a nihilist. On the other hand, nihilism, which spreads to all areas of life in thepostmodern process, also spreads to the media, and nihilist propositions are spreadthrough media texts. In this context, newspapers, cinema, television and digitalcommunication technologies, which are media tools, and the spread of nihilism throughthese tools are the subject of the study. Determining whether there are nihilistpropositions in the media is the purpose of the study, while determining how thesepropositions are spread by media texts is the problem of the study. From this perspective, the discourse analysis method was used in the study, in which samples were taken fromall media, and the data was selected using the objective sampling method. At this point, with nihilism, epistemological, existential, transparent/ postmodern, political, active andpassive nihilism classifications, a table of parameters belonging to these classificationswas created and the data were analyzed according to this table. In the studied texts, ithas been claimed that this type of nihilism exists when there is one or more of theparameters in question. In line with all these studies, it was concluded that there arenihilism and nihilism types in the media and that they are delivered to the masses by media texts. But another conclusion was that the nihilism in question is transparent, so it is impossible to avoid nihilism, and nihilism must be experienced as a Destiny.
