Toplumsal problemlerin geleneksel çözüm yöntemlerinin yetersiz kalması alternatif çözüm yöntemlerinin geliştirilmesini sağlamıştır. Tasarım, toplumsal problemlerin çözümlerinde alternatif bir araç olarak kullanılmaktadır. Bu sebeple son yıllarda sosyal fayda odaklı tasarım yaklaşımlarına giderek artan bir ilgi vardır. Sosyal fayda odaklı tasarım yaklaşımları ve sosyal girişimlerin odak noktasında „endüstriyel tasarımcı‟nın bulunduğu bir ilişki bulunmaktadır. Tez kapsamında, gelişen endüstriyel tasarım disiplini, sosyal fayda odaklı tasarım yaklaşımı ve sosyal girişimler bağlamında endüstriyel tasarımcının rolleri literatür taraması yöntemi ile araştırılmıştır.Endüstriyel tasarım disiplininin gelişmesi endüstriyel tasarımcılara yeni çalışma alanları oluşturmuş ve yeni roller üstlenmelerini sağlamıştır. Tez kapsamında, Türkiye‟de bulunan sosyal girişimler ve bu girişimlerde çalışan endüstriyel tasarımcılar incelenerek, endüstriyel tasarımcıların üstlendikleri roller tartışılmıştır.--------------------Failure to solve social problems with traditional solution methods led to the development of alternative solution methods. Design is used as an alternative tool in solving social problems. For this reason, there has been an increasing interest in social benefit oriented design approaches in recent years. There is a relationship where the "industrial designer" is at the focal point of social benefit oriented design approaches and social enterprises. Within the scope of the thesis, the roles of industrial designers in the context of developing industrial design discipline, social benefit oriented design approach and social enterprises were investigated by the literature review method.The development of the industrial design discipline has created new working areas for industrial designers and enabled them to take on new roles. In the thesis, social initiatives in Turkey and examining industrial designers working in these initiatives, discussed the roles undertaken by industrial designers.
