Nowadays, the increasing importance of knowledge and its effects to theprocesses of business and life, with its components, dynamics and characteristics;information society, epistemology and comparative appreciation of the disciplines basedon it, knowledge management and its processes are the main subjects of this thesis.As it is impossible to abstract the knowledge from the technology in the neweconomy, with the stress of industry, being the impulsive force; it is put forward thenecessity of cooperation between university and industry focusing on research,improvement and innovation, as passing through from labor based structure toknowledge based one, they should improve their capacity and competition.As a context of incorporating organizational learning and learning through thelife to this process, to get maximum output from the knowledge management process,libraries as the most important knowledge centers, must be reconstructed in order tomatch the needs of information age.Perceiving and applying of information management in Çorlu scale, the personaland institutional approaches were determined and the situations and problems ofinformation and document centers were also scrutinized. While the problems andsolutions of Turkey?s transformation process to the information society were evaluated,at the same time it was tried to determine the factors and components to contribute tothe process or put forward some suggestions to speed the process up.

Günümüzde bilginin artan önemiyle is ve yasam süreçlerine etkileri; bilesenleri,dinamikleri ve özellikleriyle bilgi toplumu; bilgi bilimi ve temelini bu bilimedayandıran disiplinlerin mukayeseli degerlendirilmesi; bilgi yönetimi ve süreçleri buçalısmanın ana temasını olusturmustur.Bilginin teknolojiden soyutlanmasının mümkün olmadıgı yeni ekonomidelokomotif gücün sanayi oldugu vurgusuyla, bu sektörde üniversite-sanayi isbirligiiçerisinde; AR-GE ve inovasyon merkezli, emek yogun yapıdan bilgi yogun bir yapıyageçerek kapasite gelistirici ve rekabet gücünü artırıcı hedeflere yogunlasma zorunluluguortaya konulmustur.Örgütsel ögrenme ve yasam boyu ögrenme kavramlarının bu sürece katılmasıylabilgi yönetiminin tüm süreçlerinden maksimum verim elde edilmesi, bu baglamda enönemli bilgi belge merkezlerinden olan kütüphane ve arsivlerin bilgi çagının gerekleridogrultusunda yeniden yapılandırılmasının önemine dikkat çekilmistir.Bilgi yönetiminin algılanma ve uygulanmasıyla ilgili Çorlu ölçeginde kisisel vekurumsal yaklasımlar saptanarak, bilgi ve belge merkezlerinin mevcut durumları vesorunları irdelenmistir. Ülkemizin bilgi toplumuna dönüsüm sürecinde yasanansorunlar, bu sorunların çözümüne yönelik olarak yapılan çalısmalar degerlendirilerek busürece katkı saglayabilecek etken ve bilesenler tespit edilmeye ve süreci hızlandıracaköneriler gelistirilmeye çalısılmıstır.
