Abstract

SUMMARYWhen the president of a republic declares war against cancer, poverty or drugs, everybody recognizes that the word of ?war? simply functions as a metaphor. Couldanyone claim that the war declared by the modern world against terrorism is a metaphorlikewise? Real wars are not metaphors. They have a beginning and an ending. It isincontrovertible that governments are obliged to protect their citizens? lives and anygovernment holds the perfect right to chase after terrorism and its collaborators. However, such efforts do not necessarily need to take place in the form of ?war?. Forthe world nations to overcome their enemies in 21st century there are some other wayswhich are more appealing to people?s benefits and constitutional rights instead ofendless and spurious war. While the validity of such spurious war declarations is being subject to discussion, themost serious of all is probably the idea which says there may possibly be reasonablecauses for war. In contemporary world where the wars proceeded through culture, media and politics increase tremendously and where everybody is blinded in an endlessstruggle against each other, the responsibilities of artists or of the people who wishes tosupport them seem to be greater than usual. The biggest handicap of mankind is amorbid quest for security in a world where imperialism is rapidly transforming, thencefreedom and basic equality of people are being forgotten. 'As long as we chase afterindividual and national security, wars will inevitably take place; it is as clear as crystal,it is already what happens in contemporary world' says the Indian philosopherKrishnamurti. While masses digest what they are served without any question, individuals at the sametime desire to possess the power to rule. No man is virtuous enough to resist a power hecan feel in his hands. Mankind may possibly believe in his own fairy tales in order tolegitimate his feeling of oppression against others.
