Bazı organik maddelerin aktif karbon üzerine adsorpsiyonu

Abstract

SUMMARY ADSORPTION OF SOME ORGANIC COMPOUNDS ON ACTIVATED CARBON Contamination of organic compounds and dyes is an important environmental problem and activated carbon is widely used to remove these contaminants from waters. In this study, the adsorption of Safranin-O ( cationic dye), phenol and some phenolic compounds (o-nitro phenol, m-nitrophenol and p-nitro phenol) from aquoeus solutions on activated carbon was examined at different temperatures. The adsorption isotherms of these substances were fitted by the Langmuir and Freundlich equations and the values of those isotherms constants were calculated. Lagergren first order and pseudo second order kinetic equations were selected to follow the adsorption process and the costants of these equations were calculated. Thermodynamic studies were also carried out and values of the change in standart free energy (AG0), entalphy (AH0) and entropy (AS0) were calculated. At low temperatures, the high negative value of AG0 was an indication of high adsorption.
