ABSTRACT TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT and THE EFFECT on EFFICIENCIES of PRINTING HOUSE BUSINESS Quality (Qualites) comes from a Latin word `qualis` meaning `how does happens` There are three steps that a product quality have been created within a process, firstly concept stage, secondly production stage and the last service stage after production. Today's quality control acceptance that modern sense is `produce properly at the beginning` rather than classical sense which is `faulty part could not pass`. The production and management method which is getting close to that goal is the Philosophy of Total Quality Management that is aiming 100 % consumer satisfaction and zero faults within a production of a product or service. Total Quality Management is growing up and spreading with an indication showing that human begins deserving human and humanely behavior. All small and big businesses are being influenced by the wind of TQM philosophy. Printing house businesses were also affected by this wind with their shares. TQM has been started to be applied on many printing house businesses. In this work, after visiting and controlling the printing houses where TQM is being applies, it has been found that TQM is achieving the increased efficiency. Production of the best for the cheapest with the present opportunity is increasing the efficiency. Therefore, this is the basic yield of Total Quality Management Philosophy. ÖZET TOPLAM KALİTE YÖNETİMİ VE MATBAA İŞLETMELERİNDE VERİMLİLİĞE ETKİSİ Kalite (Qualites) Latince `nasıl oluştuğu` anlamına gelen `qualis` kelimesinden gelmektedir. Bir ürünün kalitesinin yaratıldığı sürecinin üç temel bileşeninin birincisi tasarım aşaması ikincisi üretim aşaması üçüncüsü ise üretim sonrası hizmet aşamasıdır. Günümüz kalite kontrol anlayışı klasik `kusurlu parça geçemez.` Mantığı yerine modern `başlangıçta doğru imal et` mantığıdır. Bu hedefe en çok yaklaşan üretim ve yönetim metodu ise ürün veya hizmet üretiminde %100 müşteri tatmini ve sıfır hatayı amaçlayan Toplam Kalite Yönetimi Felsefesi'dir. Toplam Kalite Yönetimi (TKY) insanın, insan ve insanca muamelelere layık olduğunun göstergesi olarak son hızla ilerlemekte ve yaygınlaşmaktadır. Küçük büyük bütün işletmeler TKY'nin felsefe rüzgarından etkilenmektedirler. Bu rüzgardan matbaa işletmeleri de paylarına düşen kadarıyla etkilenmişlerdir. TKY ülkemizde de bir çok matbaa da uygulanmaya başlanmıştır. Bu çalışmada TKY uygulayan matbaalara gidilerek yapılan incelemeler sonucunda TKY'nin verimlilik artışı sağladığı görülmüştür.
