Abstract

Judaism in Pre-Islamic Arabia In this thesis, the existence of Jews in pre-islamic Arabian peninsula and their features in respect to Judaism have been studied. It consists of introduction, 3 main chapters and conclusion sections as follows; I.In the first chapter it is explained who were the Arabians and Hebrews in the context of 'Semite' concept in historical research field. II.In the second chapter the relativeness of Hebrews and Arabians that was mentioned in Old Testatement is surveyed and a historical perspective is presented regarding the Jew-Arab relations. III.In the third chapter the subjects such as migration time of Jews to the peninsula, whether the colonies in the peninsula were Palestine or Diaspora origin or they were proselytes, important Jewish settlements, their faiths and social structures are studied. In the conclusion, the findings of the thesis are summarized.

TEZ ÖZETİ İslam Öncesi Arabistan'da Yahudilik Tezde, İslam dininden önce Arabistan yarımadasındaki Yahudiler'in varlığı ve ne türden Yahudi oldukları ele alınmıştır. Tez; giriş, üç bölüm ve sonuç kısımlarından oluşmaktadır. I.bölümde; tarihî araştırma sahasında Samî (Semite) kavramından hareketle, Araplar'ın ve İbranîler'in kimler olduğu incelenmiştir. II.bölümde; Eski Ahit'teki İbranî ve Arabistanlılar'ın akrabalığının ne anlama gelebileceği araştırılmış ve tarihteki Yahudi-Arap ilişkilerine dair tarihî bir perspektif sunulmuştur. III.bölümde; Arabistan'daki Yahudiler'in yarımadaya ne zaman geldikleri; yarımadadaki kolonilerin Filistin ya da Diaspora kökenli mi yoksa Arap mühtedîler mi oldukları; önemli Yahudi yerleşimleri; inançları ve toplumsal yapıları gibi konular ele alınmıştır. Sonuç kısmında; ulaşılan sonuçlar özetlenmiştir.
