ABSTRACT The Relationship Between Marriage Adjustment and Personal Thinking Patterns by Okan Günay The purpose of the study was to investigate the relationship between marriage adjustment and the personal thinking patterns of the married couples. The sample consisted of 66 couples that had a variety of socioeconomic and demographic backgrounds. The measurement instruments were the Dyadic Adjustment Scale and the Personal Thinking Patterns Inventory. The findings revealed that, similarities of the couples' personal thinking patterns were related with a well adjusted marriage. Another finding was that, in all sections of the Dyadic Adjustment Scale, couples that were well adjusted, had significantly higher scores than the couples with a low marriage adjustment. m
