Abstract

ABSTRACT CINEMA OF KOSOVODuring the Yugoslavian leadership, Kosovo, the Albanian-majority province, did not have the same rights as other republics of this federation. 1968 was a very important year for Kosovo, during this year protests were held for a better life in Kosovo and in all parts of Yugoslavia. Yugoslavia realized that It had to change something in its approach to Kosovo's Albanians. In 1969, KosovaFilm was founded, contributing to strengthening the ideology of brotherhood-unity, financing partisan films and putting the policy of the time at the service of the country. The year 1981 was a major historical transformation for Kosovo and its cinema. On one hand, protests were held for the rights and independence of Kosovo's population, while on the other hand, Cinema made films to raise national awareness, which continued until the 1990s. The period of 1990-2000 is known as the black period for Kosovo. There are a lot of events during this period, cinema stopped its activities, the UÇK (KLA- Kosovo Liberation Army) was established, Kosovo entered the war period, NATO intervened and the lest one Kosovo was declared as an independent state on 2008. The films shot in Kosovo were examined in three stages, leading to the decolonization of Frantz Fanon's `The Wretched of the Earth`. These three stages were identified as assimilation, return to source and struggle. The films were handled by selecting historical criticism.
