Aim: The study was performed to determine nurses' emotional labor behaviors and emotional intelligence levels.Materials and Methods: This descriptive study was performed with 343 nurses working in 10 public hospitals in Istanbul. Data were collected using the Introductory Information Form, Emotional Labor Behavior Scale and Emotional Intelligence Scale. Descriptive statistics, Student's t, One-Way ANOVA and Bonferroni tests were used to evaluate the data.Results: Nurses' mean age was 32.15±7.13 years, 82.5% were women, 60.6% were married, 50.7% had bachelor's degree, 32.4% had 1-5 years of professional experience, 27.1% worked in the internal diseases unit, and 63.3% worked in their current unit for 1-4 years. Nurses' total score from the Emotional Labor Behavior Scale and their scores from the acting, suppressing true emotions (suppression), deep acting subscales were 3.59±0.77; 3.52±0.93; 3.11±0.99; 3.84±0.95, respectively, and their total score from the Emotional Intelligence Scale and their scores from the general mood, stress management, adaptability, interpersonal skills, personal skills subscales were 3.56±0.51; 3.62±0.63; 3.19±0.55; 3.50±0.49; 3.77±0.64; 3.60±0.57. Conclusions: The study showed that nurses had moderate levels of emotional labor behavior and emotional intelligence.Key Words: Nurse, Emotional Labor, Emotional Intelligence

Amaç: Araştırma hemşirelerin duygusal emek davranışları ve duygusal zeka düzeylerinin belirlenmesi amacıyla yapıldı.Gereç ve Yöntem: Tanımlayıcı nitelikteki araştırma İstanbul ilinde 10 kamu hastanesinde çalışmakta olan 343 hemşire ile gerçekleştirildi. Veriler Tanıtıcı Bilgi Formu, Duygusal Emek Davranışı Ölçeği ve Duygusal Zeka Ölçeği kullanılarak toplandı. Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde tanımlayıcı istatistikler, Student t, One-way ANOVA, Bonferroni testleri kullanıldı.Bulgular: Hemşirelerin yaş ortalaması 32,15±7,13 yıl, %82,5'i kadın, %60,6'sı evli, %50,7' sinin lisans mezunu, %32,4'ü 1-5 yıl arasında mesleki deneyim süresine sahip olduğu, %27,1'i dahili birimlerinde, %63,3'ü 1-4 yıl arasında bulunduğu birimde çalıştığı görüldü. Hemşirelerin Duygusal Emek Davranışı Ölçeği toplam ve rol yapma, gerçek duyguları gizleme (bastırma), derinlemesine davranma alt boyut puan ortalamaları sırasıyla 3,59±0,77; 3,52±0,93; 3,11±0,99; 3,84±0,95 olarak, Duygusal Zeka Ölçeği toplam ve genel ruh durumu, stresle başa çıkma, uyumluluk, kişilerarası beceriler, kişisel beceriler alt boyut puan ortalamaları sırasıyla 3,56±0,51; 3,62±0,63; 3,19±0,55; 3,50±0,49; 3,77±0,64; 3,60±0,57 olarak bulundu. Sonuçlar: Araştırma sonucunda hemşirelerin duygusal emek davranışı ve duygusal zeka düzeyleri orta düzeyde olduğu görüldü.
