It really takes huge amount of investments to hosting or bidding to organise mega sporting events, and it keeps going up every year. So what remains from this huge investments after the last race take place or the last match finished?In this study, the subjects of `Mega Sporting Events` and `Legacy` will be defined and explained with wide scale of sources. The aim is to set a platform to generate social benefits at maximum levels from the host or bidding cities of the mega or major sporting events. In the light of this aim, London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games will be a good example to see what has been done through the process of hosting a mega sporting events in the perspective of tangible and intangible legacies.It is obvious that in despite of huge amount of costs of hosting or bidding mega sporting events, the cities can't get enough benefits from the organizations. This obstacles give a good reason to this study to show the cities how to utilize the mega sporting events at most.

Dev spor organizasyonlarını düzenlemek veya düzenlemeye aday olmak her geçen yıl daha ciddi bir ekonomik altyapı gerektirmektedir. Son düdük çalındıktan ya da son yarış tamamlandıktan sonra dev spor organizasyonlarından geriye toplumsal fayda sağlayacak ne kalıyor? Bu tezin içeriğinde dev spor organizasyonları ve spor mirası kavramları derinlemesine incelenmiştir. Bu incelemenin amacı dev spor organizasyonlarına aday olan ya da ev sahibi hakkı kazanan kentlerde maksimum toplumsal faydanın oluşturulmasına zemin hazırlamaktır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda başta Londra 2012 Olimpiyat ve Paralimpik Oyunları olmak üzere birçok dev spor organizasyonu örneklem olarak alınıp ortaya konulan soyut ve somut miraslar kaynaklar yardımıyla açıklanmıştır. Dev spor organizasyonlarına aday olmanın veya düzenlemenin ülkelerin ekonomilerine getirdiği ağır yüke rağmen yeterli katma değeri maddi ve manevi olarak aday şehirlerde oluşturamaması bilimsel olarak bu konuda araştırma yapılmasını önemli kılmaktadır.
