Byzantine Konstantinopolis was known as Theotokuopulis; which means protecting by Mother of God. She had important role at city cult. Orthodox Christians devoted Mary icons to protection, health, welth and also they accepted her as a key to heavenly kingdom. They have believed that through her icons they could connect with God. By the time The Byzantine Empire promoted devotion to Mary icons. This thesis wants to theorize that why Ortodox Christians accepted Mary icons as a liturgical objects and also why Mary thought as a Goddes? The thesis answers to these questions; 'Has Mary got similarity with other goddesses in history?' 'Is devoting Mary icons parallel with other goddess's icons?'
