Abstract

Alternatif maneviyat çeşitlerinden siber maneviyatın incelendiği bu çalışmada, maneviyat tanımlarından ve siber maneviyat fikrinin ortaya çıktığı mecra olan internet tanımlarından yola çıkılarak siber maneviyat kavramı ele alınmıştır. İlgili kavramların analizi yapılarak siber maneviyatın tanımlarına ver verilmiş, siber maneviyatın internet üzerinde ortaya çıkan maneviyat ve manevi deneyim fikri olduğu görülmüştür. Bu çerçevede siber maneviyat fikrinin, diğer oyunlara göre içerisinde daha yoğun yer aldığı `Second Life` ve `World of Warcraft` adlı oyunlar, literatürden elde edilen verilerle değerlendirilmiş, buna göre her oyuncuya göre farklılaşmakla birlikte, maneviyat ve manevi deneyim fikrinin oyunlar içerisinde doğrudan olmasa da dolaylı olarak yer ettiği tespit edilmiştir. Siber maneviyat kavramının, internet üzerinde ortaya çıkan bir kavram olduğu, yaşadığımız çağ itibariyle internetin çok yoğun kullanıldığı ve bağımlılığa kadar gidebildiği gerçeği göz önünde bulundurularak siber maneviyat ve bağımlılık arasındaki ilişki üzerinde durulmuştur. Hem olumlu hem de olumsuz yönleriyle ele alınan siber maneviyat ve bağımlılık, bağımlılık sürecinin bir parçası olarak ya da bağımlılığın bir çaresi olarak siber maneviyat şeklinde irdelenmiştir.

This research examines cyber spirituality which is a kind of alternative spiritualities based on definitions of spirituality and internet which is the place that cyber spirituality emerged. Relevant terms have been analyzed and definitions of cyber spirituality have been given. It has been seen that cyber spirituality is the idea of spirituality and spiritual experience that emerges on the internet. In this context, `Second Life` and `World of Warcraft` games, in which the idea of cyber spirituality is more intense compared to other games, were evaluated according to data that is acquired from literature. Accordingly, the idea of spirituality and spiritual experience indirectly lies in the games, though not directly, with differentiation according to each player. By taking into consideration the concept of cyber spirituality is a concept that emerging on the internet and the internet has been used extensively by the age we live in and the reality of this use can go to addiction, the relationship of cyber spirituality between addiction has been dwelled on. Cyber spirituality and addiction that were discussed both positively and negatively have been scrutinized as a part of addiction process or as a cure of addiction.
