Narrative is one of the most important elements in cinema, in terms of Turkish cinema narratives are mostly based on traditions. This study named `Reflection of Traditions in Turkish Cinema` is concentrated on traditions that is at the same time main theme of the film Selection. In this study, 1980 is taken as a central time, which was a breaking point for social life and Turkish cinema, in this regard, the reflection of traditions in Turkish cinema before 1980 and after 1980 discussed. In the continuing part of the study based on the main theme of the Selection, the representation of the relationship between mother and daughter in Turkish Cinema analyzed. As a result, it can be stated that there is a deep reflection of the traditions in terms of narrative and the relations between characters in Turkish Cinema and Selection is a film that presents this reflection.

Sinemada hikaye en önemli unsurlardan biridir, Türk sinemasında ise hikayeler büyük oranda geleneklerimiz ile beslenmektedir. `Türk Sinemasında Geleneklerimizin Yansımaları` isimli bu çalışma Seleksiyon isimli kısa filmin de ilgili olduğu gelenekler konusuna yoğunlaşmıştır. Bu çalışmada, toplumsal hayatta olduğu gibi Türk sinemasında da kırılma tarihi olan 1980 tarihi merkez alınıp 1980 öncesi ve 1980 sonrası Türk Filmlerinde geleneklerin yansıması tartışılmıştır. Çalışmanın devam eden bölümünde ise Seleksiyon isimli kısa filmin ana konusu temel alınarak Türk Sinemasında anne kız ilişkileri analiz edilmiştir. Bu çalışmanın sonucunda Türk sinemasında geleneklerin hem anlatıda hem de karakterler arası ilişkide yoğun bir şekilde yansıdığı sonucuna varılmıştır ve Seleksiyon filmi bu yansımayı sunan bir filmdir.
