İslami hareketlerin sosyolojisi: Mısır`da Selefi hareket

Abstract

SOCİOLOGY OF ISLAMIC MOVEMENTS: SALAFİ MOVEMENT İN EGYPTSalafism is a school of thought that brings in a particular way of understanding and interpretation of religion since the early years of Islam. It has drawn worldwide attention only after the September 11 attacks, however, and studies on salafism have treated it as an ideology condoning violence. This perception started to change in the aftermath of Arap Spring as it was realized that there is another strand of salafism less concerned with politics, enjoying mass popular support and negating violence as a means of change. In this study we examine the emergence of this movement with a view to its creeds, principles of thoughts, structure, activities and relations with social groups in Egypt. This study consists of three chapters. First chapter briefly investigates theoretical perspectives on the idea of Islamism and Islamic movements. Second chapter explores the birth, rise, transformation and sociology of Islamic movements in Egypt. The main and last chapter spefically examines salafi movement in Egypt within bounds which were mentioned above.
