Abstract

In this work, new cultural environment of Myra is being told between the IV. and VII. centuries where was one of the most important cities of Lycia in historical process and where was declared as a bishopric center right after the acceptance of Christianity as an official religion in Roman Empire. Being given information about the life of Saint Nicholas from Myra and Sion, who plays a leading role in religious life of Myra and its around, also the religious sense of native population is being enlightened. In the light of information given by Vita of Nicholas from Sion which is one of the most important sources about the item, the data about the religious life is being interpreted; suggestions were aggregated for the cities mentioned in Vita and also information was given about the important religious constructions in the region. Bu çalışmada, tarihsel süreçte Lykia'nın en önemli kentlerinden biri olan ve Hrıstiyanlık'ın Roma İmparatorluğu'nda resmi din oluşunun hemen ardından piskoposluk merkezi ilan edilen Myra'nın IV. ve VII. yy.'lar arasında girmiş olduğu yeni kültürel çevre anlatılmaktadır. Myra ve çevresinde dini hayatın başrolünde bulunan Myralı ve Sionlu Aziz Nikolaos'un hayatına dair bilgiler verilerek yerel halkın nasıl bir dini algıya sahip oldukları konusu aydınlatılmaya çalışılmıştır. Konu hakkında en önemli kaynaklardan biri olan Sionlu Nikolaos'un Vita'sında verilen bilgiler ışığında dini hayata dair bilgiler yorumlanmaya çalışılmış, Vita'da isimleri verilen kentler için getirilen öneriler bir araya toplanmış, bölgede bulunan önemli dini yapılara dair bilgi verilmiştir.
