The Holy Qur'an has been a great importance and interest from its first revelation. Looking at the tradition of Islamic knowledge, tâbiûn scholars living in the period of time immediately after the companions of the Prophet and taking Islamic education and conducting activities in the scientific councils that were previously created by the companions to be a better understanding of the Qur'an have contributed greatly the scientific heritage of Islam. One of the most important names grown in this science assemblies, which has a very important position especially in the science of interpretation of the Qur?an, is Mucahid b. Cebr. In this study we have interpreted his life and character and tried to show this important personality that is the source of the subsequent commentators. The study consists of an introduction and two main parts. In the introduction first will be specified the importance and purpose of subject and scope of attention and resources afterward will be given information about the science centers that existed in his period. In the first section will be given information about the life of Mucahid and his position in the Hadith, Fiqh and Kalam sciences, and manuscript commentary that attributed to him will be introduced and evaluated. Kur'ân'ı Kerim ilk nüzulünden itibaren büyük önem ve ilgiye mazhar olmuştur. İslam ilim geleneğine baktığımızda sahabeden hemen sonraki neslin yaşadığı zaman dilimini ifade eden tâbiûn döneminde yaşayan ve Kur'ân'ın daha iyi anlaşılması ve yaşanması için daha önceleri sahabe tarafından oluşturulan ilim meclislerinde eğitim alıp bu meclislerde ilmî faaliyetler yürüten tâbîun alimlerinin İslam ilim mirasına büyük katkıları olmuştur. Bu ilim meclislerinde yetişen en önemli isimlerden biri de, özellikle tefsir ilminde çok önemli bir konuma sahip olan Mücahid b. Cebr'dir. Biz bu çalışmamızda, kendisinden sonra gelen müfessirlere kaynaklık etmiş olan bu önemli şahsiyetin hayatını ve tefsir anlayışını ortaya koymaya çalıştık. Çalışmamız bir giriş ve iki ana bölümden oluşmaktadır. Giriş bölümünde, konunun önem ve amacı ile kapsam ve kaynakları belirtildikten sonra Mücahid döneminde mevcut olan ilim merkezleri hakkında bilgi verilecektir. Birinci bölümde ise Mücahid'in hayatı hakkında bilgi verilip Hadis, Fıkıh ve Kelam ilimlerindeki konumuna da dikkat çekildikten sonra kendisine isnad edilen yazma tefsir nüshası hakkında bilgi verilip değerlendirme yapılacaktır.
