Politik sinema olanağı olarak deneysel sinema

Abstract

The aim of this thesis is to discuss the possibility of reading the experimental cinema as political cinema. In this regard the thesis will first discuss the scope of the avant-garde theory that progressed after 1970?s under the context of the avant-garde concept. By mentioning the instances of avant-garde cinema that has been produced since the beginning of the 20th century, the movies of Guy Debord will be reviewed under the Situationist Internationalists. In line with this the discussions, the tendencies and the structuring will be evaluated. Especially by focusing on the example of the North American Underground Cinema, the progressing production and distribution organization will be discussed. In brief, the tendencies of the production conditions and form will be tried to be understood, by comparing the Situationist International and the Underground Cinema through the very specific example Stan Brakhage. The thesis provides the opportunity to evaluate the North American Underground Cinema from the view point of the political cinema through the Brakhage cinema. In this regard, although it is not asserted that the experimental cinema is genre of the political cinema, the discussion is evaluated in the context that the possibilities presented to the experimental cinema in liberalizing its expression area.

Bu tezin amacı deneysel sinemanın politik sinema olarak okumasının olanaklarını tartışmaktır. Bu amaçla, çalışma önce avangart kavramı çevresinde 1970'lerden sonra gelişen avangart kuramının kapsamını tartışır. Avangart sinemanın 20. yüzyılın başından itibaren ortaya konulan örneklerine değinerek Sitüasyonist Enternasyonal içerisinde Guy Debord'un filmlerini gözden geçirilir. Buna paralel olarak deneysel sinema çerçevesinde yapılan tartışmalar, eğilimler ve yapılanmalar ele alınır. Özellikle Kuzey Amerika Yeraltı Sineması örneği üzerinde durularak gelişen üretim ve dağıtım örgütlenmesi tartışılır. Kısaca Sitüasyonist Enterasyonal ve Yeraltı Sineması karşılaştırması ele alınarak Stan Brakhage örneği üzerinden üretim koşulları ve biçimlerindeki eğilim anlaşılmaya çalışılır. Çalışma Brakhage sineması üzerinden Kuzey Amerika Yeraltı Sineması'nın politik sinema açısından değerlendirmesinin yapılmasına olanak sağlar. Bu anlamda deneysel sinemanın politik bir sinema biçimi olduğu iddia edilmemesine rağmen yapılan tartışma deneysel sinemacıların ifade alanlarının özgürleşmesi açısından sunduğu olanaklar dahilinde ele alınır.
