Abstract

Bu çalışmada, Şükrü Balcı Polis Meslek Yüksek Okulunda öğrenim gören 1. ve 2. Sınıf öğrencilerin, sınıf komiserlerinin liderlik davranışları ile ilgili onları nasıl gördükleri ve nasıl görmek istedikleri ortaya konmuştur.Bu kapsamda çalışmanın ilk bölümünde literatürde yer alan liderlik ve lider tanımları, liderlik gücünün kaynakları incelenmiş, ikinci bölümde tarihsel olarak geçmişten günümüze liderlik yaklaşımları ele alınmıştır ve başarılı bir lider olabilmek için öğrenilmesi gerekenlere değinilmiştir. Üçüncü bölümde öğrencilerin sınıf komiserlerinin liderlik davranışlarını belirleyen bir anket çalışması yapılmış, bu çalışmada öğrencilerin sınıf komiserlerinde görmek istedikleri liderlik davranışları da tespit edilmiştir.Çalışmada, Robert I. Kabacoff tarafından geliştirilmiş olan Lider Etkinliği Analizi çerçevesinde liderlik davranışını saptamaya yönelik anket oluşturulmuştur. Araştırma evreni olarak Şükrü balcı Polis Meslek Yüksek Okulunda öğrenim gören 1. ve 2. Sınıflar seçilmiştir. Öğrencilerin sınıf komiserlerinde gördükleri ve görmek istedikleri liderlik davranışını belirlemeye yönelik olan ankette, sınıf komiserlerinin, liderlik rolünün altı temel fonksiyonunu oluşturan yirmi iki liderlik davranışı boyutu ile ilgili belirlenmiş olan ifadeler ile derecelendirmeleri istenmiştir. Öğrencilerin sınıf komiserlerinde gördükleri ve görmek istedikleri liderlik davranışları arasında anlamlı farklılıklar tespit edilmiştir.

This study aims to demonstrate how students of Şükrü Balcı Police Vocational School of Higher Education perceive the leadership behaviors of class-superior sergeants and what type of leadership styles they expect.In the first chapter of the study, concept of leadership, leadership styles, and sources of leadership are reviewed through existing literature. Historical analysis of leadership approaches and what to learn to be a succesful leader are discussed in the second chapter. In the third chapter, the survey about perceptions of students regarding leadership behaviors of class-superior sergeants and what type of leadership behaviors students expect from the latter is identified.This study develops a special survey based on the Leader-Effectiveness-Analysis developed by Robert I. Kabacoff to identify leadership behaviors. The universe of the study is first and second level students of Şükrü Balcı Police Vocational School of Higher Education. In the survey students are asked to rate twenty-two leadership behaviors those constitute six fundamental functions of leadership role. This study found that there are statistically significant differences among students in their perceptions of leadership behaviors of their class-superior sergeants and their expectations concerning leadership behaviors.
