Refik Halid Karay (1888-1965) is one of the significant authors of the II. Constitutional Monarchy and the Republic periods. Refik Halid reflects the social and political alterations in that epoch in his works. In this regard, his novel, story, theatre plays, journalistic and magazine writings was decided to study.In the thesis, by taking into account the difference between the purpose and the fiction I approach the subject in two parts that composed of both his journalistic writings and novel, story, theatre plays and memoir that contain the elements of social critique. In first part of my study his fictional works were analysed under the titles of degeneration, exile, war, health and education. In second part of my study his intellectual works were studied under the titles of degeneration, daily life, war, literary subjects, education and press world. In conclusion of the study, smillaraties were determined as well as diferences in subjects of both parts. The point which most focused on in both parts is degeneration of society.A detailed bibliography was added at the end of the thesis. In this bibliography the writer?s works were classified according to first edition dates and types. Refik Halid Karay (1888-1965) II. Meşrutiyet ve Cumhuriyet dönemlerinin önemli yazarlarındandır. Bu dönemlerdeki sosyal ve siyasi değişimler onun eserlerine doğrudan yansımıştır. Bu bakımdan onun roman, hikâye, tiyatro, anı, gazete ve dergi yazılarındaki sosyal tenkit unsurlarının incelenmesine karar verilmiştir.Bu tezde amaç ve kurgu farklılığını göz önüne alarak gazete ve dergi yazıları ile anı, roman, hikâye ve tiyatrolarındaki sosyal tenkit unsurlarını iki bölümde ele aldık. Çalışmamızın birinci kısmında yazarın kurmaca eserleri; yozlaşma, yabancılar ve azınlıklar, savaş, din, sağlık ve günlük hayat gibi başlıklar altında incelenmiştir. Çalışmamızın ikinci kısmında ise yazarın fikrî eserleri; yozlaşma, gündelik hayat, savaş, edebî meseleler, eğitim ve basın hayatı başlıkları altında incelenmiştir. Yapılan inceleme sonucunda iki bölümdeki konular arasında paralellikler tespit edildiği gibi farklıkların da mevcut olduğu görülmüştür. İki bölümde de üzerinde en ayrıntılı durulan mesele ?toplumda yozlaşma?dır.Tezin sonuna ayrıntılı bir bibliyografya eklenmiştir. Bu bibliyografyada yazarın eserleri ilk baskı tarihlerine ve türlerine göre tasnif edilmiştir.
