Abstract

The classical theories of imperialism developed in 1910’s comprises the first period; the development literature of the post-Second World War era and the underdevelopment literature which emerged as a response to that comprises the second period; and the theorethical developments since the second half of the 1970’s comprises the third period. The basic emphasis of the study is that the relationship of imperialism and development can be investigated most fruitfully from the perspective of the internationalization of capital. Depending on this, the theories of the three main periods are evaluated from the perspective of the internationalization of capital, and the theorethical continuities and discontinuities are tried to be determined.
