Abstract

Bu çalışmada, Türkiye'de 1990'lardan sonra sayılarında hızlı bir arıtış yaşanan iletişim fakültelerinden yola çıkılarak, iletişim eğitiminin nasıl olması gerektiğine ilişkin bir sonuca ulaşmak amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmada, öncelikle haberleşme eyleminin insan yaşamındaki önemi belirtilerek, basının Dünyada ve Türkiye'de doğuşu ve gösterdiği gelişim ele alınmıştır. Çalışmada, ayrıca haberin aktarılmasında rol alan kitle iletişim araçlarının toplumsal yaşamda zaman içinde kazandıkları önem vurgulanmış ve bu duruma paralel olarak haberin üretilmesinde görev alan gazetecilerin eğitiminin de önem kazandığı belirtilmiştir. Bu noktadan hareket edilerek çalışmada, Dünyanın belli başlı ülkelerinde ve Türkiye'de gazetecilik eğitiminin doğduğu koşullar ve gösterdiği gelişim tarihsel süreç içinde değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışmada, Türkiye'deki üniversitelerin bünyesinde verilen gazetecilik eğitiminin geçirdiği aşamalar incelenirken, ilk olarak üniversite düzeyinde gazetecilik eğitiminin verildiği İstanbul Üniversitesi İletişim Fakültesi, daha detaylı olarak ele alınmıştır. This thesis aims to provide a conclusion as to how communication education should be, considering the communication faculties in Turkey, of which number increased fast after 1990. In this study, the significance of communication in human's life has been emphasized, and birth and development of media in the world and Turkey have been examined. Furthermore, the importance that the mass communication tools have gained, in playing role in transferring news, was stressed and the significance of journalists playing role in producing news, as a result of the foregoing, was referred to. Starting from this point, conditions that ensue as a result of mass communication education in leading countries of the world and Turkey, have been examined in historical development process. While the phases of mass communication education provided by Turkish universities have been examined, School of Communication of Istanbul University, as the first institution to provide mass communication education, was examined in detailed.
