Abstract

III

Abstract The objective of this thesis is to study the design of Automatic Storage and Retrieval System (AS/RS) in the automated manufacturing systems. The AS/RS is designed by using the simulation technique. The tool used in modelling, is a relatively flexible and easily available high level computer language which is Turbo-Pascal (Borland). The system simulated by computer code, contains l type part, 2 type celi with respect to space dimensions. Also, the study presents the comparison of single and dual command types of AS/R systems. Moreover, study is to present performance of the AGV's, robots and pick up/deposit stations. For this reason a set of performance criteria has been used to measure.the system performance. - Several factors are used to determine the transient phase of warehouse performance graph. Ali these studies are presented in relative sections of this thesis. II
