Abstract

Küresel bir sorun olarak obezite konusunun 2010 yılında ülke genelinde yayımlanan tüm gazete ve eklerinde nasıl yayımlandığını ortaya koymayı amaçlayan bu çalışmada sistematik rastsal örneklemle belirlenen 172 yazı içerik analizi yöntemiyle incelenmiştir. Yazıların yayımlandığı yayınların niteliği, yazıların sayfada yer alış biçiminden hareketle önemlilik derecesi, yazıların tonu, haber kaynakları, obezitenin nedenleri, sonuçları ve çözüm önerilerine ilişkin anlatımlarının değerlendirildiği çalışmada, elde edilen bulgular konunun gündemde pek de önemli bir yer bulmadığını, daha çok negatif tonda yazılar yayımlanmış olsa da literatürdeki çalışmalarla da paralel şekilde obezitenin nedenleri ve çözüm önerileri arasında daha çok bireysel/davranışsal unsurların öne çıktığı anlaşılmıştır. Toplumsal, çevresel ve sistematik unsurlar ise ikinci planda görülmüştür

This study aims to describe how the newspapers and the supplements published in Turkey covered the global problem obesity issue in 2010, and conducts content analysis on 172 articles, which are selected by systematically sampling technique. The nature of the articles published in the newspapers, the importance of the issue in the pages, the tone of the articles, news sources, causes of the obesity, consequences and solution proposals are evaluated. The findings show that the newspapers doesn’t give more importance to the issue, most of the articles have negative tone, the reasons and solutions of the obesity are described mostly with the frames of personal/behavioral elements. Social, environmental and systematic elements comes in the second level
