Abstract

A partire dagli anni ’90 Jacques Derrida parlò, con una certa insistenza, dell’impossibile. Insistenza che, vista l’importanza di cui era stato investito, nelle opere precedenti, il tema del “possibile”, non può non creare un certo sconcerto che obbliga ad interrogarsi sul nuovo rapporto che egli intende riconfigurare tra possibile e impossibile. La questione tocca un punto noto e centrale dell’opera di Derrida: la fuoriuscita dalla “metafisica della presenza”, dall’idea che l’essere sia possibile come identità a sé e che la possibilità, a partire da questo assunto, sia pensabile come assoluta purezza. Per il filosofo francese, ciò che rende possibile rende anche impossibile, ovvero «compromette la purezza rigorosa, l’identità a sé, la semplicità ontologica di ciò che diventa, così, possibile». L’impossibile non è il contrario del possibile ma apre il varco verso il possibile stesso, ne è la chance. Parlare di possibilità è, dunque, possibile se si coglie la radice che la rende tale, ossia quell’im-possibile che ne vieta una de-finizione. “Im-possibile” non significa, allora, “ciò che non è possibile”, ma indica ciò che rende possibile il possibile stesso. Detto altrimenti: perché qualcosa sia “possibile” un impossibile, altro dal possibile, deve a-venire prima. Avvento che è evento dell’altro, o meglio, evento del “tout autre” in quanto “tout autre”.
