Abstract

Pareceu-me sempre iluminadora uma Reflexion de Kant: “Quando se quer ser um inventor, exige-se ser o primeiro; quando se quer apenas a verdade, exigem-se predecessores” (Reflexão 2.159). Com o radicalismo sóbrio do grande pensador, ele sugere uma das dife- renças essenciais entre inventar, invenire, descobrir algo novo, tão característico da atividade científica, e a procura da verdade, que é própria da filosofia. A descoberta científica traz à luz pela primeira vez algo nunca visto anteriormente e reduz à reconstrução histó- rica erudita desenterrar as tentativas de quem se pôs no mesmo caminho de procura sem alcançar a meta. Na filosofia acontece o contrário: a relação com a história e com quem foi impelido pela pergunta acerca da verdade a pensar é constitutiva e fundamental para aqueles que, aqui e agora, se fazem a mesma pergunta.
