Abstract

Nel volume viene descritta e pubblicata una fonte tipica delle chiese curate friulane medioevali: il catapan o libro dei legati/obituario. In tali libri venivano annotati i nomi dei defunti (singolarmente o per gruppi famigliari) e si indicavano anche le prassi di commemorazione liturgica, ma trovavano spazio anche annotazioni di vario genere: da scritture cronachistiche a statuti confraternali a documenti vari riguardanti le comunità parrocchiali. I due catapan pubblicati provengono da Trivignano Udinese, e sono stati redatti tra i secoli XIV e XVI. L'edizione costuisce la prima di una serie programmata dall'Istituto Pio Paschini di Udine. All'edizione è premessa una corposa ricostruzione storica del contesto nel quale è maturata la produzione dei catapan di Trivignano, che, a loro volta, consentono di indagare le dinamiche sociali e religiose di una pieve e comunità rurale friulana nell'arco dei secoli XIV-XVI.
