Abstract

The current book presents a selection of the most characteristic of Sinan's mosques, built between 1562 and 1577 in Istanbul and Edirne, including the dome built over an octagon in the Selimiye Mosque in Edirne, wihch Sinan himself considered his absolute masterpiece. The method chosed is to reconstruct the buildings via hand drawings based on the dimensions of the mosques and older plans. ( W. Voigt)
