Scrittura beneventana e scrittura carolina in manoscritti dell'Italia meridionale

Abstract

Prima repertoriazione e analisi grafica di manoscritti di origine italomeridionale portanti scrittura benevantana e carolina, sia come sistemi grafici nettamente distinti nella mise en page, sia, soprattutto, come sistema “misto”. Si tratta di codici databili tra XI e XII secolo, contenenti testi di tradizione patristica, tecnica, letteraria, di dimensioni medie o medio-piccole e privi di forti caratterizzazioni tipologiche sia nella scrittura che nell’eventuale apparato ornamentale, che rimandano a una circolazione di scuola monastica e a scriptoria non direttamente influenzati dai maggiori centri di produzione grafica dell’Italia meridionale, ma che mostrano come nella regione, forse anche a causa dell’espansione normanna, si possa individuare non canone ma una prevalenza della scrittura beneventana rispetto alla carolina, comunque persistente come modello grafico accettato e non alternativo al primo.
