Abstract

Conrad Celtis Protucius (1459-1508), der als deutscher „Erzhumanist“ bezeichnet worden ist, gründete mehrere wissenschaftliche Gesellschaften (Sodalitäten), so 1491 die Sodalitas litteraria Rhenana und 1497 die Sodalitas litteraria Danubiana. In seinen lyrischen Werken ahmte Celtis Ovid und Horaz nach. Als Hauptwerk dürfen die „Quattuor libri amorum“ („Vier Bücher Liebesgedichte“) (Nürnberg 1502) betrachtet werden, zu denen Albrecht Dürer Holzschnitt-Illustrationen lieferte. Sie enthalten eine Tafel Des Conrad Celtis Protucius...(und) Vier Städte Deutschlands[3] querüber gelegen, an den vier Seiten, fast gleicher Länge und Breite: Regensburg Mainz Lübeck Krakau. Boemia... in media Germania - Böhmen... in Deutschlands Mitte.

Conrad Celtis Protucius (1459-1508), who has been called the german arch-humanist, founded several learned scientific societies (Sodalitates litterariae), among them the Sodalitas litteraria Rhenana in 1491 and the Sodalitas litteraria Danubiana in 1497.
