Beden Dismorfik Bozukluğunda Beden Algısı ve Bilişsel Süreçlerin İncelenmesi

Abstract

The aim of this project is to study the body image and cognitive processes in Body Dysmorphic Disorder. Considering the literature reviews and the results of national and international studies, it can be said that individuals with Body Dysmorphic Disorder have negative body image due to the high inconsistency among perceived body appearance, real body appearance and ideal body appearance. Reviews in the literature show that negative body image is related to low self-esteem, low self-confidence, pyschiatric disorders, social appearance anxiety and social isolation. In line with the reviews on cognitive processes in Body Dysmorphic Disorder, it can be said that individuals with Body Dysmorphic Disorder have cognitive distortions, negative automatic thoughts, perfectionist thoughts and dissatisfaction with the body, reference thoughts and negative social comparisons.
