Abstract

La fluidez lectora involucra habilidades lectoras a nivel de palabra y habilidades de comprensión de textos. El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar la relación entre los distintos niveles (subléxico, léxico y textual) que intervienen en la fluidez lectora en niños de edad escolar sin dificultades para el aprendizaje de la lectura y establecer qué variables permiten explicar el rendimiento de los participantes en el nivel textual. Se evaluaron 58 niños de 7mo grado de nivel primario - media de edad de 12.54 (D.E. = .43) - con tres tareas que evalúan el nivel subléxico a partir de dos tareas de velocidad de denominación (rapid automatized naming, en adelante RAN): RAN alfanumérico y RAN de denominación; el nivel léxico (lectura de palabras y no palabras) y el nivel textual (lectura en voz alta de un texto y preguntas sobre el contenido). Los resultados obtenidos muestran asociaciones significativas entre los tres niveles evaluados. Esto da cuenta de la incidencia del nivel subléxico tanto en el acceso léxico como en los aspectos relativos a la comprensión. Es decir, las habilidades subléxicas son subyacentes a estos procesos. También se hallaron efectos de RAN y de lectura de palabras y no palabras sobre el tiempo de lectura y la lectura de palabras correctas en el texto, y un efecto del tiempo de lectura del texto sobre las medidas de comprensión. Estos resultados indican que la automatización de los procesos subléxicos beneficia los procesos involucrados a nivel textual, tanto de manera directa como indirecta, a partir de su incidencia en los procesos léxicos.

Reading in a fluent way is not only to read fast and with accuracy, it also implies to comprehend the reading material. The aim of this research is to analyse the relationship between the different levels (sublexical, lexical and textual) involved in reading fluency in children in school age with no reading learning problems. A group of 58 children from primary level -(mean age 12.54 DS. = .43)- who attended to 7th grade was evaluated with three tasks. An alphanumeric and naming RAN test designed adhoc was used to assess sublexical level and a standardized word and no word reading task was used to evaluate word level. Text level was assessed with a short text. Students had to read it aloud and once they finished, they had to answer four questions about the text. The results show significant correlations between the three levels evaluated. These results bring information about the underlying influence of sublexical level in lexical access as well as in aspects involved in reading comprehension. The data obtained also show that rapid automatized naming task (RAN) and word and no word reading tasks have an effect on reading time measures and accuracy in the text reading assessment. The statistical analysis fulfilled also show that the performance in comprehension is tightly related with the time participants need to read the text. These results indicate that automatization of sublexical process favour the process involved in textual level directly and indirectly because of their incidence in lexical process.
