Abstract

The flowing work presents the results of the analysis of 15 trace elements made of black obsidian artifacts recovered on the north coast of the province of Santa Cruz, specifically in the are as Cabo Blanco and Sur de la ría Deseado. Geochemical studies indicate that all the pieces analyzed correspond to the three chemical types identified in Pampa del Asador. The distance to the source of origin varies between 400 km in the case of Cape Blanco and 380 km toSur de la ría Deseado. These resultsare evaluated in terms of some trends in the densities and characteristics of black obsidian artifacts recorded in the area in order todiscuss, in a preliminary way, problems related tolongdistance movement, exchange, and use of thes erocksin the past.
