Abstract

La obra de Tato Laviera se inserta dentro de la tradición literaria niuyorriqueña a partir de su identificación con el nuevo sentido identitario de una puertorriqueñidad extraterritorializada que los niuyorriqueños desarrollaron en su particular diáspora. Sin embargo, el primer poemario de Laviera publicado en 1979, La carreta made a U-turn, puso en escena una tipo de politicidad que excedía la denuncia y la proclama contestataria y se fundaba en la subversión configurada por la lengua en tanto literatura menor, una lengua de resistencia que resulta de la confluencia y fusión de múltiples registros, y que recupera así, el valor insurrecto de los esclavos fugitivos del Caribe y sus lenguas creoles, operando a partir de esta tradición afro-antillana un desvío en el seno de la primera generación poética niuyorriqueña; una Poética, finalmente, que logra llevar adelante la propuesta lanzada por Arcadio Díaz Quiñones en La memoria rota, y su apuesta por “descolonizar” el imaginario puertorriqueño “bregando” desde el mismo interior de la lengua y la identidad puertorriqueñas recuperando la tradición cultural afro-antillana para operar con ella un caribeño con el cual subvertir el encierro de antiguos y nuevos colonialismos.
