Abstract

Cueva del Negro site, is a shell midden inside a rock shelter located in the north coast of the province of Santa Cruz. This site is highlighted by the high presence of bone specimens of birds, with large predominance of marine species and several objects made of bones of these taxa. The aim of this paper is to analyze the role played by sea birds bones in the manufacture of instruments and decorated elements on the North Coast of Santa Cruz. In this sense, we present descriptions of different objects -such as punches, awls and beads made with sea bird bones-, anatomical-taxonomic determination were made in cases that where possible, and traces of manufacturing and use were made
