Abstract

This paper describes an episode that is mentioned in several texts but barely studied by Argentine historiography: the brief period in which the general Enrique Rauch served as Minister of Home Affairs, between April and May 1963. From our perspective, this was the most revealing state attempt of introducing McCarthyist logic during the crisis of the Revolución Libertadora administration. The repercussions of the measures taken by the minister can be appreciated in the press, although for other issues we also resorted to archival sources.
