Los tejidos vegetales silicificados preservados en heces fosilizadas de dinosaurios, en vasijas pertenecientes a culturas pasadas o simplemente en suelos antiguos, como hendijas en el tiempo, nos permiten acercarnos a momentos impensados. Floras de épocas remotas, actividades realizadas por hombres que se dedicaban a la caza y dieta de animales prehistóricos pueden ser deducidas a partir del estudio de estas partículas microscópicas denominadas fitolitos.
