Percepción moral: Algunas clarificaciones y distinciones

Abstract

Se reconoce, en general, que la experiencia perceptiva es el origen y fundamento “último” del conocimiento empírico. Ahora bien, suponiendo que haya algo así como “el conocimiento del mundo moral”, cabe preguntar: ¿tiene la percepción un rol epistemológico semejante en la justificación de nuestros juicios y creencias morales? Esto es, ¿puede la experiencia perceptiva ser también la fuente y fundamento “último” del conocimiento de los hechos morales? Recientemente, varios son los filósofos que han argumentado en favor de una respuesta afirmativa a esta pregunta (Bloom 1994; Audi 2010, 2013, 2015; Dancy 2010; Chappell 2008; Cowan 2015; Cullison 2009; McBrayer 2010; McBrath 2004; Werner 2016; Wisnewski 2013). En este trabajo, suponiendo la verdad del realismo moral y de la tesis de que la experiencia tiene contenido representacional, quisiera introducir algunas distinciones que no siempre se tienen en cuenta en la literatura, y algunas clarificaciones que conciernen al contenido de la percepción moral y al modo en que se supone que ésta (re)presenta los hechos morales. El objetivo último de todo esto es presentar del modo más claro, explícito y plausible posible la tesis de la percepción moral.
