Abstract

Telar, con su nombre metafórico y su “lugar de autora”, es una invitación sugerente e irresistible para mostrar un ámbito normalmente escondido: el revés de la trama, los nudos del bordado, la trastienda de la escritura. Intentaré pues, en este espacio hospitalario, contestar y contestarme una pregunta que me han formulado algunos lectores acerca de dos novelas: Una mujer de fin de siglo (1999) y Las libres del Sur (2004). Ambas son novelas sobre escritoras argentinas. Una de ellas es la olvidada (salvo por el coto de especialistas), Eduarda Mansilla, hermana de Lucio V.; otra es la más notoria (pero difícilmente bien leída) Victoria Ocampo. No son, en puridad, “novelas biográficas” (aunque Una mujer de fin de siglo, en torno a Eduarda, se acerca más a este registro) y menos aún “biografías noveladas”. En ellas no se trata de proporcionar una imagen total y exhaustiva de sus trayectorias vitales ni de sacar a luz secretos amorosos o familiares, nuevos documentos, datos desconocidos...
