We propose a diachronic path and a concrete analysis of two synchronic moments on the speculative argentine literature that offers as a scenario the Río de la Plata Basin’s delta and its islands. The diachronic path begins with the first argentine utopia, originated in the nineteenth century, precisely on the physiocratic imaginary about the region. From there, we will stop at a corpus of the XXI century, at first markedly dystopian, that raises the need for a paradigm shift with respect to Modernity, which in itself implies the existence of a certain utopian drive in these texts, and then observe, at a second moment, the recent return to the possibility of utopia; however, this new utopian imagination turns out to be very different from the nineteenth century one.
