Abstract

Regional basis of lithic resources and sources of raw materials at southern Yocavil Valley. This paper presents the structure of the regional basis of lithic resources at southern Yocavil Valley, Catamarca. Through survey, it was identified primary and secondary sources of raw materials. By petrographic analyzes, it was mineralogically identified. Over this information, it was feasible to approach to procurement strategies of lithic resources held in the formative site Soria 2, particularly for grinding tools. On the other hand, neutron activation analysis confirmed the presence of obsidian from Ona and Laguna Cavi sources at the site and its belonging to aloctonous material circulation networks of the formative period.

En este trabajo se presenta la estructura de la base regional de recursos líticos al sur del Valle de Yocavil, Catamarca. Mediante trabajos de prospección se identificaron las fuentes primarias y secundarias de materias primas. A través de los análisis petrográficos, se las identificó mineralógicamente. Con esta información, fue factible aproximarnos a las estrategias de aprovisionamiento de recursoslíticos llevadas a cabo en el sitio formativo Soria 2, particularmente para los artefactos de molienda. Por otra parte, los análisis de activación neutrónica confirmaron la presencia de obsidianas de las fuentes Ona y Laguna Cavi en el sitio y su pertenencia a las redes de circulación de materiales alóctonos del Formativo.
