Abstract

Phytolith analysis applied to archaeological studies in Argentina is revised. This paper describes the properties of these micro-remains, their implication in interpretations within archaeological contexts and the relevance of this to the study of relationships in plant-societies. Moreover, investigation related to phytolith analysis according to different types of material is summarised: sediment, pottery, dental tartar and stone tools. Finally, updated information is organised and future possibilities offered by each type of work are considered.
