A fines del siglo XIX, el escenario cultural porteño dio muestras de una singular apertura hacia una nueva figura: la de la mujer artista. En efecto, diversos sectores intelectuales defendieron ideas novedosas en torno a la relación entre mujer y creatividad. Este artículo busca explorar algunas carreras de mujeres artistas, mediante dos ejemplos, en el período finisecular y evaluar qué características asumió su compleja incorporación en un relato clave sobre la historia del arte en la Argentina.
