Abstract

Los vaivenes cuasi matrimoniales entre el cine y la literatura están marcados por dis­putas y conciliaciones, admiración y despre­cio, no sólo entre escritores y cineastas sino también entre películas y libros. Para justifi­car traiciones y fidelidades se ha recurrido muchas veces a la metáfora de la traducción, cuestión que de un modo u otro hace un conteo de ganancias y pérdidas, de sentidos que se logran y oportunidades que se des­perdician. Un abordaje más conciliador pre­fiere hablar de transposición, subrayando no sólo el pasaje de un objeto a otro –de la no­vela a la película–, sino también la trasmuta­ción de un lenguaje completo que involucra materiales y procedimientos diferentes. Lo cierto es que siempre que se va a ver un film basado en una novela, ese texto se convoca incluso antes de posar los ojos en la pantalla y cuando se ve la película, la lectura es siem­pre comparativa. Aunque el libro no ocupe un lugar de guardián del sentido o de ori­ginal que se ha traspuesto o traducido más o menos correctamente, igual está ahí, para bien o para mal, como una suerte de latencia o de horizonte de lectura de la experiencia cinematográfica...
