Aplicativos en yagán

Abstract

Los aplicativos, junto con los causativos, son los mecanismos más típicos para el incremento de la valencia verbal. A diferencia de los segundos, que incrementan la valencia del verbo al agregar un agente, los aplicativos pueden introducir una variada gama de participantes periféricos: instrumento, beneficiario, locativo, comitativo, motivo, entre otros. En este trabajo presentamos un primer análisis de la categoría de los aplicativos en la lengua yagán. Para el análisis, se parte de dos parámetros: la transitividad de la base (intransitiva, transitiva o ambas) y el rol semántico del objeto aplicado; en cuanto a este último, se han seleccionado los benefactivos. El corpus de análisis se conforma a partir de dos fuentes documentales: datos recogidos durante el período de vitalidad de la lengua, hacia fines del S. XIX, provenientes de los trabajos del misionero anglicano Thomas Bridges y datos provenientes de los análisis realizados por Perla Golbert (1985a,b), a partir de materiales propios recogidos en expediciones de campo.
