Abstract

En las últimas décadas los convertidores multinivel se han desarrollado enormemente, fundamentalmente impulsados por los nuevos paradigmas en la generación, transmisión y distribución de energía eléctrica. Hoy se presentan como una solución en múltiples aplicaciones tales como energías renovables, mejora de la calidad de energía, accionamientos eléctricos y otras aplicaciones industriales. En este trabajo hacemos una revisión de las principales topologías y sus métodos de modulación y control, principalmente enfocados a la interfaz de fuentes de energía alternativa con el sistema eléctrico.

The multilevel converters have been evolving along the last decades in different high-power applications. They have been greatly impulse by the new paradigms for electric power generation and distribution. Now they appear as a mature solution in various applications such as renewable energies, power quality improvements, motor drives and other industrial applications. In this paper we make a review of main topologies and their modulation and control techniques, focused on the interphase of renewable energy sources and the electrical system.
