El El objetivo de la ponencia es poner luz sobre la problemática de los refugiados de la Primera guerra mundial, que quedaron sin la protección de sus Estados, como consecuencia del desmoronamiento de los imperios ruso y turco. La mirada estará puesta en los armenios llegados a la Argentina luego del Genocidio de 1915, recibidos como inmigrantes a pesar de que algunos eran portadores del estatus jurídico de refugiado. Se analizará la incidencia de la política migratoria argentina, el ingreso de los armenios, partiendo de la hipótesis que en el contexto argentino, los inmigrantes fueron considerados como pobladores que contribuirían con su aporte a la construcción de la nación y no como refugiados que requerían una atención especial.
The aim of the paper is to put light on the problem of refugees from the First World War, which left without the protection of their States as a result of the collapse of the Russian and Turkish empires. The focus is the Armenians arrived in Argentina after the 1915 Genocide, received as immigrants even though some of them had the legal status of refugee. It will be analyzed the incidence of Argentine immigration policy on the entry of the Armenians, on the assumption that in the Argentine context, immigrants were seen as people who contribute to nation building and not as refugees requiring special attention.
