El texto recorre la situación de las comunidades indígenas en los dos últimos siglos en su relación con la sociedad/Estado envolvente. Su historia de invisbilización y exclusión; centrándose en dos momentos claves: la supresión de los pueblos de indios en 1848 por parte de Carlos Antonio López y la guerra del Chaco entre Bolivia y Paraguay.
