Derivación causativa en lengua toba

Abstract

En este trabajo analizamos las cláusulas causativas del toba (flia. Guaycurú) siguiendo los parámetros de ‘acción más o menos directa’, ‘grado de lexicalización / gramaticalización’, y el de ‘productividad’ propuestos en ‘causative continuum model’ de Shibatani y Pardeshi (2002). En toba, los causativos directos intencionales indican superposición témporo-espacial entre la acción del causante y el efecto sobre el causado, son los más lexicalizados y los menos productivos. Los causativos indirectos intencionales indican mayor distancia témporo-espacial entre la acción del causante y el efecto sobre el causado, son los menos lexicalizados y los más productivos. Entre estos dos tipos se ubican los causativos sociativos, cuya expresión morfológica se realiza mediante aplicativos, en cláusulas donde el argumento causado se codifica como sujeto sintáctico y el argumento causante como argumento aplicado. En toba, sólo las raíces y bases causativas intencionales, construidas mediante derivación, pueden derivar nombres (‘de acción’, ‘instrumental’, ‘resultativo’ y ‘pacientivo’). Por el contrario, las causativas no-intencionales, construidas mediante aplicativos, no pueden derivar dichos nombres. Proponemos, entonces, una segunda clasificación de las formas causativas en toba, organizada a través del parámetro semántico de la ‘intencionalidad’. Aquí también encontramos una forma intermedia, las bases causativas directas no-intencionales que, a pesar de utilizar un procedimiento derivativo, no pueden derivar nombres. Este comportamiento estaría indicando el origen aplicativo de los afijos causativos tobas. toba, Guaycurú.
