Litteraturens kraft

Abstract

I denne oppgaven til jeg utforske litteraturens kraft, hva den er og hvilken innflytelse den har både på et individuelt nivå og samfunnsnivå. Metoden jeg benytter er Rita Felskis versjon av lesingens fenomenologi, som er sentrert rundt leserens opplevelse av, og interaksjon, med kraften i teksten. Jeg vil begynne med å undersøke hva litteraturens kraft er, og om vi kan skille mellom en emosjonell og intellektuell kraft, og om de to kreftene vil stille ulike krav til oss som lesere. Her vil jeg vende meg mot fire forfattere for å finne ut hvordan de beskriver det de anser for å være litteraturens kraft og hvordan de opplever den i skapelsesprosessen. Jeg vil se på den litterære opplevelsens gyldighet i forhold til litterær kvalitet og tolkning, gjennom en anmeldelse som tar opp det subjektive aspektet ved litteraturkritkken. I tillegg vil jeg se på Martha Nussbaums og Walt Whitmans teorier om hvorfor demokratiet trenger litteratur og humanvitenskapene. Den sosiale dimensjonen ved litteratur og fellesskapet som kan bygges rundt den, vil avslutte oppgaven. Jeg vil inkludere lesninger av tre skjønnlitterære verk, basert på den sanselige opplevelsen av litteratur og effekten skjønnlitterære verk kan ha på oss.
